Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) Enterprise Technology (eTech) is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to support cutting-edge R&D across multi-agent systems, reinforcement learning, computer vision, and more. You’ll model complex problems using advanced ML techniques, deploy and fine-tune AI capabilities, and apply best practices from both software engineering and machine learning. You will also explore emerging AI technologies to evaluate their potential for real-world defense applications.
Please note: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a government DoD clearance at the secret level.
This position requires the ability to travel up to 25%.
This position is a hybrid role and can be based near one of the following RMS sites.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related discipline with 5+ years related experience or Masters degree with 3+ years experience.
• Experience with coding: software development principles, testing, validation, debugging in relevant programming languages (e.g. Python, C++, Java, GO).
• Experience in at least one of the following areas of AI: Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision (CV), Agent Design and Reinforcement Learning (RL) or similar.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a government DoD clearance at the secret level.
• This position requires the ability to travel up to 25%.
Desired Skills:
• General knowledge of Agile principles
• Experience analyzing and debugging AI/ML algorithms performance in complex systems as well as strong ability to read through existing solutions and identify the cause of erroneous behavior
• Proven experience interfacing across teams to integrate advanced technology into complex production systems
• Experience leading small teams and scaling organizations to meet mission critical objectives
• Experience developing and presenting technical studies and proposals to generate new business opportunities
• Experience with Python and machine learning libraries (OpenCV, Pandas, Scipy, Torch, Scikit-learn)
• Experience with MLOps tools: Kubeflow, Docker, Git [GitLab, GitHub], Continuous Integration [CI], Continuous Deployment [CD]
• Prior experience with code versioning, such as GitLab or Jira
• Excellent communication skills
• Proven leadership experience in engineering assignments and successful proven results in leading and executing on software intensive programs

Ability to Work Remotely:Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules:Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position:4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
